The story
Don O’Neal survived a feature with five different leaders, taking the lead for the final time on lap 65 to win his first Show-Me 100.
Sixty-five cars entered the May 24, 2014, event at Lucas Oil Speedway. Ryan Gustin qualified fastest at 15.142 seconds, but the feature became a shifting contest involving Tony Jackson Jr., O’Neal, Scott Bloomquist, Jesse Stovall and Jimmy Owens.
O’Neal led three separate stretches and moved ahead for good on lap 65. He controlled the final 36 laps and earned $30,000, with Earl Pearson Jr. second and Bobby Pierce third. Bloomquist and Owens completed the top five.
O’Neal became the 10th different winner in 22 editions. The 32-car feature paid a listed total of $100,350.
