The story
Scott Bloomquist completed a two-win weekend by taking the lead back from Jimmy Owens on lap 70 and extending his Show-Me 100 record to six victories.
Bloomquist opened the weekend by leading every lap of Thursday’s Cowboy Classic. Jimmy Owens answered Friday, taking the Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson lead on lap 14 and leading the final 27 circuits. Their preliminary victories set up a head-to-head battle in the 100-lap finale.
Owens led laps 1 through 14 before Bloomquist moved in front for eight circuits. Owens regained command on lap 23 and held it through lap 69, but Bloomquist made the deciding pass on lap 70 and controlled the final 31 laps.
Bloomquist earned $30,000, with Brian Shirley second, Mike Marlar third, Bobby Pierce fourth and Chris Simpson fifth. His sixth Show-Me 100 victory extended the record he had established with five wins at West Plains, and the 29-car feature paid $128,700 in listed earnings.
